ActionPlas Ltd are seeking a skilled and motivated CNC Miller Setter/Operator to join our production team to support and optimize automated manufacturing cells within a plastics manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on CNC machining role responsible for taking production-ready work from our Manufacturing Process Team and delivering safe, efficient, repeatable and high-quality manufacture on the shop floor. Responsible for setting, proving, operating and optimising the process at the machine.

This role is designed for skilled CNC Miller Manufacturing Engineers who can independently take a prepared job and get it running correctly and efficiently in Production.

Responsibilities

Set and operate CNC milling machines.
Load and prove out offline-generated CNC programs.
Set tooling, workholding, fixtures and machine offsets.
Make appropriate program amendments and adjustments at the machine.
Set and optimise feeds, speeds and machining parameters where required.
Manufacture components to engineering drawings and specifications.
Carry out first-off and in-process inspection.
Work accurately to GD&T, dimensional tolerances and customer requirements.
Machine a range of engineering plastics.
Identify and resolve machining and process issues.
Monitor tool condition and make appropriate adjustments.
Maintain process stability and repeatability throughout production.
Work to defined process plans and manufacturing instructions.
Support improvements to cycle times and manufacturing efficiency.
Feedback process improvements to Process Engineering and Programming.
Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping and machine care.

What we’re looking for:

Previous CNC machining experience.
Typically 3+ years' setting/operating experience preferred, although individual applications will be considered based on capability.
CNC Milling experience.
Ability to independently set and prove CNC machines.
Ability to understand and make appropriate CNC program amendments.
Good understanding of FANUC or similar CNC controls.
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
Understanding of GD&T and engineering tolerances.
Good knowledge of cutting tools and workholding.
Experience carrying out first-off and in-process inspection.
Strong practical problem-solving ability.
Experience within precision or subcontract manufacturing.
Experience machining engineering plastics would be particularly advantageous.
Experienced CNC machinists from a metals background will also be considered where they demonstrate the appropriate technical capability and willingness to develop their knowledge of engineering plastics.
