CNC Milling Operator/Setter

Job Definition

The role of CNC Milling Operator/Setter is to complete all works with no supervision across either milling or turning (or both) depts and ability to set up and operate the CNC (Computer Numerical Controlled) milling machinery, whilst adhering to all shop floor Health & Safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • To safely set up, program and operate CNC Milling Machines whilst adhering to all safety policies and procedures

  • Ensure equipment is running smoothly, efficiently and to optimum requirements

  • Maintain a clean, neat and organised work area

  • Prepare machine and equipment before and after every use

  • Good understanding of mechanical engineering and machining principles

  • Compliance with all quality policies and specifications, and instructions

  • Properly load and unload materials into the CNC milling Machinery

  • Use of gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.

  • Prepare and operate CNC milling machines to perform various tasks

  • Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to ensure quality requirements are met

  • Inspect and measure finished products

  • Understand specifications of the task at hand and the desired result

  • Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function

  • Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications

  • Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality

  • Work to the ActionPlas values

 
Skills

  • Skill in operating/setting/programming CNC Milling machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools

  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings

  • Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming and CAD/CAM

  • Mechanical aptitude and good math skills

  • A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach

  • Good communication abilities
